Fried and Gone to Heaven

When I say Southern, you say fried. Ready? Midtown favorite Ecco is hosting a savory evening on Thursday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. called “Fried and Gone to Heaven.” The tasting event features sparkling wines, french fries and caviar. All the wines being poured are affordable, delicious alternatives to the sometimes pricey offerings of the Champagne region, such as Louis de Grenelle, Saumur Rosé, Crémant de Loire, Loire, France NV and Weingut Ewald Gruber, “Punkt Genau,” Sparkling Grüner Veltliner, Austria NV. And because Ecco loves allowing its guest to challenge their palates and conceptions about food and drink, Executive Chef Micah Willix is pairing these wines with oodles of french fries in the classic pommes frites fashion—fried twice to be extra crispy on the outside and surprisingly light on the inside—topped with an enormous helping of creamy, cool crème fraiche and generous dollops of sinfully decadent caviar.
