Str8, bisexual, bicurious, gay, lesbian, transgender, transvestite, F2M, M2F, transitioning, bear, femme, top, bottom, sporty, butch … there are plenty of labels out there to individualize and describe people’s sexual identity. Out On Film, Atlanta’s Gay and Lesbian Film Festival—now in its 19th year—explores the people and their respective lives and emotions behind those labels with films and videos hailing from around the globe. The festival, sponsored in part by Turner Broadcasting (way to be open-minded, Ted), kicks off this Fri., Nov. 10, at 8pm with the screening of “Puccini for Beginners,” a quirky and queer romantic comedy about a lesbian, a bisexual girl, a bicurious girl, and a straight guy. The afterparty for opening night is at WETbar (960 Spring St., @ 10th, 404.745.9494), and all film ticket holders get in free. An array of mind-blowing, thought-provoking, and moving films will be shown day and evening through Nov. 16. The full screening schedule is on the Web site. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here. All films will be shown at Plaza Theatre (1049 Ponce De Leon Ave.).
